A YCH (Your Character Here) auction is where you bid on an artwork with a blank space for the artist (me!) to paint your character into an already finished scene.

As an artist, I like YCHs for a number of reasons:
- I have lots of ideas for artworks that no one has commissioned me for yet.
- I want to give my followers a chance to name their own price.
- So many of you have cool characters that I want to paint! 🤩
- I’m often looking for a certain type of character to fit a specific scene.
- I want to create an auction environment that is a low stress single bid system where unfair bid snipping is avoided, and you don’t have to necessarily have the highest bid to win.
How My YCH Auctions Work:
They are silent auctions and bidding is done solely through my YCH Bid Form.
To win one of my YCH auctions, you don’t have to have the highest bid; you have to have a decent bid + a character I feel would really fit well within the artwork.
For example, if I was reviewing all the bids I received on a particular auction, I would first narrow down my selection to my favorite characters that all equally work well aesthetically within the scene. Then out of those select few characters, I’d choose the highest bid among them.
The winner of the auction may not have been the highest bidder among ALL of the applications, but they placed the highest bid among my final choices.
I feel this creates a fairer, lower stress environment for both me as the artist and my commissioners. And in the end it produces an aesthetically pleasing artwork for all to enjoy!
Auctions will be advertised on my social media and gallery sites.
There you can find relevant information on specific auctions like:
- The image you’ll be bidding on.
- The closing date of the auction, after which, no further bids will be accepted.
- The title of the YCH auction. (you’ll need this for the bid form)
- And in case there are multiple character slots up for auction in a single image, letters (A, B,C..) will be fixed atop each blank character for ease of bidding.
If an auction has multiple character slots available within one image and you wish to bid on two or more of those slots (Ex: slot A & C), fill out separate YCH Bid Forms for each specific slot you desire.
Before you bid, be sure you understand and agree to my usual ToS.
When you’ve done that and you’re ready to bid, fill out my YCH Bid Form.
